It’s raining wonderful authors here at Laugh, Love, Read!  Today I have the lovely Sophie Jordan to celebrate the debut of her sizzling new book, Foreplay, which hits bookstores TODAY!  So, stick around, say hi, check out Sophie’s phenomenal trailer for Foreplay, and be sure and leave a comment for your chance to win!

You’ve titled the book, “Foreplay.”  An obvious sexual innuendo.  How important is . . . foreplay?  🙂

Really, it has to do with Pepper’s story. My heroine decides she needs an education on “foreplay” as she has so little experience and she wants to win over a certain guy. It’s not a brand-new premise, but I promise there are surprise twists and you’ve never read a story — in the new adult genre or romance — quite like Pepper’s!

I write in two genres, as do you.  Do you find this challenging or rewarding?  What is your favorite part?

Um, both! 😉 It is a LOT of work … really, you’re doubling the work load. But I feel so lucky that I get to write in multiple genres because I love them both so much. I love to read so many different things… I’m fortunate that I can write in more than one area, too.

What is your favorite scene in the book?

The first scene where Reece takes Pepper up on her request to be “schooled” in foreplay. Yeah, it’s sexy, but hell, it’s just also such a revelation about both Pepper and Reece — who they are, what they want … what lines they will and won’t cross. The part where Reece takes her cell phone and texts on it … well, you have to read that part. It’s my favorite. 🙂

Name three things you have in common with your hero/heroine.

I think I really was that girl that didn’t come out of her shell until college. Pepper is very familiar to me in that way.

I was also that girl with an idealized image of her love and her future, like Pepper. Sometimes what we think we’re after … well, the reality of what you get can be even better.

And lastly, I love Disney World — just like Pepper!

Do you have a favorite author or book you’re fan-girling over right now?

I LUUUUVED Frigid by J. Lynn. Pure escapism. Romance and New Adult at its best.

And lastly, my most serious question, what is your guilty pleasure?

Lattes. Mexican food … er, wait, why am I leaping to food? LOL. I also love to indulge in pedicures.

All great answers!  And the book sounds fantastic!  Can’t wait to get lost in it!  Can you give us just a little more about it, where to find it, and that trailer we’ve been hearing all about?

foreplay coverBefore she goes after the life she’s always wanted,
she’s about to find the one she needs…

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

    • WOW that was a great book LOVED IT!!!!!! I had to drop by and drop a line about it Thanks so much for such a fun book I loved Em!!!!

  1. Sophie the books sounds AMAZING!

I don’t really know how to answer your question Christie, because I absolutely adore my husband WHY he choose me I will NEVER understand…he is everything a women dreams about funny, sexy, cooks, cleans and treats me like a lady, opens doors for me. BOY did I have to get used to that. :), we won’t even start on the bedroom well all I can say is *sigh* and best of all he puts up with me! 😀 I asked him once what he seen in me….he said “When I sat on the other side of you at the table in the gas station and you looked at me with those big blue eyes, and all shy looking I just knew I would love you forever….” awwww….I bet he regrets that now 😉

  2. Sophie, I envy you the ability to write in two genres. That must be tough. But I enjoy reading in more than one genre, so I can see how it would be fun to write in more than one.

  3. Guilty pleasures = a pedicure. Well, yeah, but like you, Sophie, my thoughts went straight to food. I’m looking forward to reading FOREPLAY and discovering what’s going on in that cell phone scene. 🙂

  4. This sounds awesome! Thanks for the chance.

I guess for books I’m fan-girling over Darynda Jones, her Charley Davidson series is a hoot (and steamy!), for television I’m fan-girling over Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., love me some Agent Coulson, he is hilarious, and for movies I’m fan-girling over Joss Whedon, his adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing (which, fun fact Clark Gregg, aka Agent Coulson is a star in) was remarkable!

  5. The book sounds great! So excited for a New Adult book! I fit that category. I love YA books, but I’m not into the Adult books yet, so this is perfect! I’m totally fan-girling over CC Hunter right now (not sucking up, I swear haha). I haven’t found a book yet that compares to the Shadow Falls Series. I have tried! I’ve read two books since finishing the series (I also try to balance being a wife, mommy to fur-babies, cleaning a house and college! I’m new at it, but getting better!) and they just didn’t give me the connection I found with the story and characters in the Shadow Falls series! I can’t WAIT for Reborn and the rest of the Shadow Falls: After Dark series. So, thats my fan-girl story 🙂

  6. I love finding new authors and you never fail me with your blog. This book sounds terrific.
I fell in LOVE with Ann Charles and her two series: Deadwood and Jackrabbit Junction. They are a combo of mystery/humor/romance and the Deadwood is also paranormal. The third in the Jackrabbit series is coming out soon and I can’t wait 🙂

  7. This is going to have to go on my to be read list! Love finding out about authors I did not know about before! I love this blog because I have been introduced to such great authors through reading Christie’s blog! My fan girl authors are Madeline Sheehan and R L Mathewson!!!

  8. wow, who can’t use schooling on foreplay? you could always learn something new that’s a lot of fun!
I am a big fan of Jill Shalvis, Christie Craig and in the last couple of years Diane Kelly is my greatest discovery. It’s hard being up-to-date on all these great authors though because then it seems like forever waiting for the next book… Thanks to your blog though, I keep discovering new authors I enjoy.
