Oh, The Friends We Love!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t know what I’d do without my friends. I have been truly blessed. They have been there for me through all kinds of weird s**t. Bad day.  Bad month.  Bad flu.  Bad boyfriends.  Bad husband.  (Yup, I had one of those before I met my hubby today.)

So, I guess it’s no surprise that friendship is always a strong theme in all my books. I can’t help but think of my heroines in the Divorced & Desperate series.  Women sharing, coping and moving past the pain of going through nasty divorces.  Then there’s the Tall, Hot & Texas series.  In The Junkyard Cowboy, you see these gals fighting love and losing so fabulously.

Then there’s my young adult Shadow Falls series.  What would Kylie, Della and Miranda do if they didn’t have each other? How many times did they save each other’s butts? And who can forget their Diet Cokes around the table as they talked out their problems and helped each other with solutions?

In The Mortician’s Daughter: One Foot in the Grave, Riley finds a best friend, too. Kelsey is a bit prickly at first.  Oh, but soon she standing up for Riley.  Which leads Riley to stand up for her. It’s a shame that a fight erupts and Riley ends up with a pretty black, blue and purple shiner.  Then there’s her other friend, Hayden.  The only problem is that he’s dead. But she finds herself relying on him more and more as time goes by, even though she knows she’ll have to let him go.

this heart of mineOn February 27th, This Heart of Mine comes out, and like the rest of my books, friendship plays a pivotal role. Leah MacKenzie’s best friend is Brandy. And Brandy is the friend who has stuck by her through her through thick and thin and even her heart problems. She’s the one friend that makes Leah feel like a normal teen. They share their problems and their dreams, even though Leah doesn’t expect to realize any of her dreams.

Last week, I gave you sneak peek of Riley and Kelsey’s world. So, are you ready to meet Leah and Brandy? Ready to be drawn into Leah’s world? I have great news for you! Follow the link HERE, download the PDF and you can read the first chapter of This Heart of Mine.

Here’s to reading.  Here’s to best friends.

  1. Can I just let out a happy squeal that my name is the name of one of your characters!!! Even if it is spelled wrong (lol) ***squee*** I have 3 women that at some point in my life I gave called my best friend. I am still friends with all of them, which includes my bff from kindergarten through junior high. I lean on them and they lean on me.

  2. I don’t have one but two best friends. 1 has been there 42 years and the other 41years. I’m 42 years old myself and YES we were in playpens together. Our parents were friends and the three of us luckily were able to maintain our close friendship. I don’t know what I’d do without these girls. We’ve experienced all types of life’s experiences together, the food and the bad. We talk every single day and would jump in front of a moving vehicle for the other. We have mating tattoos that say; We weren’t sister by birth, but we knew from the start ….Fate brought us together to be sister by heart. You don’t find many people who can maintain relationships for so long so we know how lucky we are! We are known as “The Cupcake Girls” for our love of baking.

  3. Thanks so much for the chance to win the Junkyard Cowboy review contest! It was such a great story! I can’t wait for more Christie Craig books, but I’m very much looking forward to the new C.C. Hunter books too!

My BF lives two time zones away so it’s hard to get time to chat with each other, but we text almost every night!

  4. One of my best friends texted me a supportive or funny or sentimental or empowering quote every day from the night I told her I was diagnosed with breast cancer through chemotherapy to several weeks after my last radiation treatment. She was there for my family and every fear, every sadness, every ache, every pain, every laugh, every joy, and every milestone. Next to my parents and my husband and boys, she was one of my biggest cheerleaders and always gave me a safe place to fall-she helped me up and was with me every step of the way.
