1)  What do you look for in a great beach read?

051loriwildeI look for humor in my beach reads. Something light and airy just like the beach.
2)   What’s the last great beach book you read?
Christie Craig’s novella in the anthology Three Southern Beaches. Adorable!
3)    What’s the one thing, besides a book, that you never go to the beach without?

Kate retreats to idyllic Sugar Falls, New Hampshire, to figure out whether she can discover her passion and pay the bills. Enter volunteer fireman and all-around hunky guy in a tool belt, Jim Pearson. While a sizzling attraction draws them together, forces beyond their control conspire to make them risk it all… and bet on love.

1) What do you look for in a great beach read?

Not that you asked, but I burn easily and I hate when the sun glares off my tablet screen, so I’m doing all my ‘beach’ reading in a shady hammock. (And, yes, there may also be napping involved.) For my by-the-lakeside leisure reading, I want a book that will be just as sweet an escape. I’m a sucker for funny, sexy stories with lots of witty banter. (Christie Craig!) If it lets me laugh out loud and get those butterflies from great sexual tension, do not bother me unless you’re bringing me a cool glass of iced tea. Family, you have been warned.

2) What’s the last great beach book you read?

Cheri-Allan-author-pic-9-2015Gah! It’s been a long, snowless winter here in New England, so my last beach read was months ago. 🙁  But, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying both the raucous humor of Julia Kent’s Shopping series and Bria Quinlan’s YA (Wreckless was pitch perfect sweet, real and charming) and her contemporary Brew Ha Ha series.

3) Flip flops or tennis shoes?

Am I the only one thoroughly self-conscious about the noise flip flops make? Just me, walking your way. Yes, still me. Yup, me again… announcing my *snick* every *snick* step. LOL  I choose: Barefoot. Unless it’s the coast of Maine, in which case, tennis shoes, because… seaweed!

Diane Kelly

Against-the-Paw-cover-183x300Diane Kelly a former tax advisor and graduate of her hometown’s Citizen Police Academy, she is the author of Death and Taxes, a romantic mystery series and the K-9 cop Paw Enforcement series. But a peeping Tom has been spotted in an affluent Fort Worth neighborhood-and concerned citizens are looking for a few good watchdogs…Megan and Brigit have to jump in paws first-before some very angry people take the law into their own hands.

Carl Hiaasen’s Star Island. His characters and stories are a hoot!

Pina coladas. I love coconut!

  1. I like beach reads to be fun and lighthearted. Stories that are there for our pure entertainment. Add a klutzy character and yep, it’s a beach read

  2. Having the entire summer off has left me with enough time to catch up on my reading and I love books about summer. Especially the ones with humor!

  3. Summer is when I try to read as much as I can before work begins for another year. I love summer reads that are sweet, romantic, humorous and have a good mystery to them.

  4. I love beach reads! Books that entertain and bring the heat of the day and the characters to life. I like reading them at the beach of course, but they are also great to read in the winter when I need a reminder of sun and sand and relaxing fun.

  5. I’m with Diane Kelly – I love something light and humorous. And a happy ending is a must! Vacation should be fun!!

  6. You are a new to me author…I was sent over by Lori Wilde! I am always looking for new authors to read! Thank you for the chance to win!

  7. Love beach reads. During the summer I enjoy stories that take place on the coast. Love floating in my pool while reading.

  8. While we love the beach, we went to the mountains for our family vacation this year. It was wonderful. We live in central Alabama, only a few hours from Gulf Shores, so we have promised our niece and nephews that we would try our best to take them there for at least a day at the beach before school starts again!

  9. Hi Christie, what a fun give-a-way. I need a new beach read, unfortunately these will come too late for RWA Conference. But plenty of time when I get back. Hope to see you there.

  10. I love to read something easy going, preferably something like a contemporary romance with humor, something by either Kristan Higgins or Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I know this sounds weird, but I like to write at the beach. I tend to people watch, and the beach is a great place to come up with character profiles.

  11. Heading up to Maine for a week on the beach and I’m planning to take along Diane Kelly’s “Death, Taxes, and a Satin Garter.” I love that whole series and her “Paw and Order” series, too.

  12. I read Lori’s book – so good! I am trying to mix up some new books with some older series that I haven’t gotten to.

  13. So far, every time we’ve been at the beach I’ve had to keep up with my kids which translates to no relaxing beach reads. I think the next time I’d like to read something funny and light hearted like Jamie Farrell’s Misfit Brides or Liz Talley’s new series. Your books have always made me laugh, too.

  14. It doesn’t look like I am going to see any beach soon but would love to win some great books instead. Thanks for opening this giveaway for us here in Germany too.

  15. These look like fun reads. The beach is one of the most relaxing place to me, and reading is my mental getaway.

  16. Reading is my favorite past time especially in the summer where you can skip the heat and be in the ac !

  17. I haven’t been to the beach yet this summer, but I do love to read in the summer! I’m off all summer, so I have plenty of reading time!

  18. Wonderful giveaway. Thank you for this chance. I love reading because it takes me away from reality for a while. 🙂

  19. Awesome beach bag of books….. I like beach reads to light, quick
reads. I like to be able to finish each book at one sitting.

  20. Not an ocean person but I love to take my little boat out on the lake and just float away with a good book.

  21. I like to grab a series when I go to the beach. Last year I read Kathryn Shay Ludzaecy series, another year her Oneil series. I have read Erin Nichols Bradford series and Katherine Brooks Bluegrass series. Looking for a good series for this year, still undecided on that. 🙂

  22. My favorite beach reads are ones that are as hot as the sand on a summer day! It should make me sweat even if I’m indoors!

  23. I love to read anything while on the beach, I am not picky as long as I am on the beach with a good book and cold drink in my hand! :D.
Tess Oliver has some great smaller books that take you to the beach it is almost like you can smell the ocean!
I did just get done reading The Bird And the Sword by Amy Harmon, great book!
And of course anything by Christie or CC 😉
